Three government ministries to evaluate status of subsidies for renewable energy projects

On March 24, the National Development and Reform Commission and two other ministries jointly issued the “Notice on Carrying out the Self-inspection of Renewable Energy Power Generation Subsidies”. The government will verify renewable energy power generation subsidies nationwide to assess how much subsidies are owed to renewable energy companies and crackdown on fraudulent behaviour. The examination will be mainly carried out through a combination of enterprise self-inspection, on-site inspections, and supervision, according to six criteria: project compliance, scale, electricity, electricity price, subsidy funds, and environmental protection (for biomass power generation).
