SGCC launches two 1000 kV UHV AC mega projects representing a 11 billion CNY investment

State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) recently held a meeting for the launch of two major ultra-high voltage (UHV) alternative current (AC) power line construction projects: the Fuzhou-Xiamen and Zhumadian-Wuhan 1000kV UHV AC projects. The two projects represent a total investment of 10.9 billion CNY (1.71 billion USD) and are scheduled to be put into operation in 2023. The Fuzhou-Xiamen UHV will include a substation with a capacity of 6GW and 238 kilometers of double-circuit 1000 kV transmission lines. It will increase the power receiving capacity of Fujian power grid by 4 GW and promote the development of clean energy such as coastal nuclear power and wind power. The Zhumadian-Wuhan project will include 287 kilometers of double-circuit 1,000 kV transmission lines. It will expand the consumption scale of clean energy from the northwest and southwest in central China.
