The NDRC and the NEA jointly issued a notice to ‘Accelerate the development and construction of pumped storage projects during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period’. The plan states that accelerating the development of pumped hydro storage is important for the construction of a new power system with a high share of renewable electricity. The development and reform commissions and energy bureaus of all provinces are requested to speed up the approval of pumped storage projects in 2022 while promoting large-scale and high-quality development of pumped storage.
