Frequency modulation energy storage project successfully launched in Gansu

The Gansu Power Plant Auxiliary Frequency Modulation Energy Storage Project for Gansu Power Investment Company’s (GEPIC) thermal power plants in Zhangye, Gansu, was successfully commissioned for 72 hours and officially put into commercial operation. The project was contracted by NR Electric (a company owned by State Grid) via an EPC contract. It uses a 10MW/5MWh energy storage system matched with two 325MW coal-fired generating units. The power plant is equipped with energy storage to increase its frequency regulation capabilities, thereby improving its competitiveness on the auxiliary services market.
