16GW wind and solar power generation base start construction

On the morning of December 28, the Kubuqi Base Project, the world’s largest wind and solar power project, developed and constructed in the Gobi desert , has started construction. The project is jointly invested by 3-Gorges and IMEIC (IMAR Energy Investment Group).

The planned total investment of the Kubuqi base project is more than 80 billion CNY, with a total installed capacity of 16GW, including 8GW of solar power, 4 GW of wind power, and 4GW of advanced high-efficiency coal power for supporting reconstruction and expansion.
