The Energy Strategy team focuses China’s sustainable energy and climate policy and on government and corporate sustainable energy and carbon solutions. China’s energy problems are immense. With 80% of electricity generated by coal-fired power plants, as well as being the second largest oil importer in the world, China sits on the crossroads of climate change mitigation and economic development. The Energy Strategy team, with a number of international energy experts, has an excellent track record affecting the climate policy debate as well as working with our partners on implementing leapfrogging solutions for companies and local governments in China. Our focus areas include International climate negotiations and carbon markets, corporate carbon foot printing and labeling, industrial and building energy efficiency policy, industrial energy auditing and management, low-carbon development plans, and low-carbon technologies and innovations. We bring deep technical understandings of energy technologies and innovations, strong analytical capability in sustainable energy and carbon markets, detailed tracking of sustainable energy policy development and implementation in China, and strong methodological capability in carbon accounting, reporting, and labeling. Our partners and clients included organizations such as Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the Energy Research Institute inside the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the International Finance Corporation, World Wildlife Fund, and a diverse group of Chinese and multinational industrial clients. For more information on work we do, see our Services and Publications. |
