Emiel van Sambeek
Emiel van Sambeek is a partner at Azure with more than 12 years experience in clean energy research and strategy consulting across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
He joined Azure in 2007 as the Director of the Energy Strategy Consulting team. In this role he has led his team to advise a range of corporate and government clients on market entry strategies, energy policy, equity and debt financing, and corporate energy savings. Partners and clients include organizations such as the Energy Research Institute of the NDRC, International Finance Corporation, a leading Chinese Private Bank, State Grid, Levi's, Adidas, DSM, l'Oreal and the City of Foshan in Guangdong.
In addition to his consultancy activities, Emiel is responsible for developing business plans, structuring, investment and organizing business execution for a number of clean energy technology ventures in China.
Before joining Azure, Emiel was a senior consultant at the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) for over six years. His responsibilities at ECN included leading a team advising the Dutch government on the structuring of a new 100+ million Euro per year renewable energy investment package. Furthermore, he worked with large European research consortia on technology roadmaps, market assessments and commercialization strategies for a range of sustainable energy technologies, including distributed generation, energy storage and various renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
Emiel holds a Master's degree in Energy and Environmental Science from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.
