Emiel van Sambeek has an international background in sustainable energy research, government policy development and corporate strategy consulting. He joined Azure in 2007 as the leader of the Energy Strategy team, which focuses on China’s sustainable energy and climate policies and on corporate sustainable energy and carbon solutions. His team’s partners and clients include organizations such as Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the Energy Research Institute of the NDRC, International Finance Corporation, WWF, and a diverse group of Chinese and multinational industrial clients.

Before joining Azure, Emiel was a senior researcher and consultant at the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) for over six years, advising government and government related (international) institutions in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia on sustainable energy and climate policies and strategies. His clients included the European Commission, Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, UNDP, OPEC and World Bank. Emiel holds a Master’s degree in Energy and Environmental Science from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.
